September 2022

The NAGA board (photo below) recently met face-to-face for the first time since their election. Elected via a Zoom Triennial meeting in the summer of 2021, since that time the board has had several Zoom meetings. Lots of work on By-laws and policies and procedures was accomplished during those Zoom’s, along with planning for the General Convention that was to take place this past summer. As you know, the General Convention was scaled back considerably, and NAGA only had a very small part of that meeting.

The Franciscan Retreats and Spirituality Center, in Prior Lake, Minnesota, was the setting for our first in-person meeting. Zoom has been a wonderful tool, but being able to have the presence of each one was a great gift. We shared meals, laughed, worshiped, and worked together, while enjoying the beautiful grounds of the retreat center.

We brought pictures of our houses, and tried to match the house with the owner as a little get-to-know you exercise. Then we sat down to work more on the structure of the organization; watch for a few small By-Law changes at the next Triennial, to be held the Summer of 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky. We spent the rest of our time brainstorming and planning that next meeting. Some good ideas for workshops, meetings, and our traditional field trip were discussed. All of us left thankful for our time together, and excited about what is in store for the future of NAGA.
